Euronews featuring Hortimare

Euronews currently is creating a short TV documentary on sustainable algae in Europe, in cooperation with the European Commission Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE). Hortimare was selected to be featured in this documentary, as a leader in the breeding and propagating of sustainable seaweed, selling high-quality starting material and providing advice and support to novice seaweed farmers.

The post-coronavirus economic recovery is becoming a big theme in Europe and Euronews is hoping to show how the blue economy could make this recovery more sustainable. It was our pleasure to have the crew visiting Hortimare recently and we were glad to provide insight in some of the processes performed at Hortimare in order to be able to deliver high-quality starting material to the seaweed industry. The crew also filmed at the Dutch seaweed farm of Zeewaar as they were harvesting their crops. It will give the viewer a complete picture of the entire cultivation process. We trust Euronews will come up with a stunning production in which the benefits and economic potential of sustainable seaweed cultivation in Europe is explained.

The documentary will be dubbed in 9 languages and broadcasted across 160 countries in the “Ocean” series of Euronews. We, at Hortimare, can hardly wait to see it. The TV story will go on air next week, starting on Tuesday 9th of June at 20.50 pm CET and it will be frequently broadcasted in the days after.
