ULTFARMS
Developing Low-Trophic Aquaculture Pilots in offshore wind farms
Funded
North Sea, Baltic Sea
From 2023
What we are doing
The Project
ULTFARMS advances low-trophic aquaculture (LTA) by integrating seaweed, mussel, and oyster cultivation with offshore wind farms across six pilot locations in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. The project develops innovative, nature-inclusive systems while optimizing production under dynamic offshore conditions. It also focuses on ecological innovations, sustainable practices, and delivery of low-carbon, safe aquaculture products to the market.
Hortimare supports the project by delivering high-quality seed material for the German pilot and sharing expertise. Collaborations within the project enhance knowledge exchange and contribute to the sustainable growth of the aquaculture industry.
